settings for cut and paste? (rbmisc)

I've used cut and paste but it's not pasting exactly what I cut, i.e. the names I used for the items cut are being replaced with the widget name and a number. I am cutting and pasting from one screen to another.Is this what cut and paste is supposed to do..
